Description
How about farm fresh eggs from your own backyard? Anyone with a small yard can keep a few chickens. Their feed can be supplemented with supermarket scraps and weeds, not to mention that chicken poop creates a wonderful nitrogen source for your garden. Most hens lay an egg every day or two, so their fresh eggs will be a source of delight and culinary inspiration. This class covers chicken requirements and responsibilities, setting up coops, raising chicks, feed and water requirements, legality issues, anatomy, predation and disease, and best breeds for the city. Book here.
Women worker-owned and operated, BioFuel Oasis is a cooperative that values sustainability, local production and community. They offer hands-on, seasonal classes designed to empower people and participants go home with an object from the class—a bar of soap, a wedge of cheese, a bottle of honey, a flat of sown seeds—and the know-how to do it solo next time.
